The Children’s Cabinet and Las Vegas Urban League host training events for providers and early childhood professionals. These sessions are designed to help providers stay in compliance with state regulations, licensing practices, and industry standards, while enhancing knowledge and skills in early childhood education. The training ensures providers meet necessary requirements and stay up-to-date with best practices.

The Children’s Cabinet maintains a current list of child care provider scholarships and grant opportunities in Nevada.
Financial Support is now available to reimburse child care providers for the cost of fingerprinting and background checks. Child Care providers and required household members can now request reimbursement using the background reimbursement online form. Please note that receipts are required to be considered for reimbursement.

This program assists income-eligible families in obtaining child care so they can work, receive job training, or finish a higher education/vocational training program. The Division of Supportive Services (DSS) serves as the lead agency for administering the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) in Nevada. DSS manages eligibility case management in southern Nevada, while The Children’s Cabinet supports families in northern Nevada and offers statewide assistance to child care providers.

Nevada Silver State Stars QRIS creates a culture of continuous quality improvement for Nevada’s child care programs. QRIS is a method to assess, improve and communicate the level of quality in early childhood programs. Programs are assigned a rating, from 1 to 5 stars, to assist parents in finding quality care and education provider for their child.
Providers that care for children on the Child Care Subsidy Program but are not required to be licensed, must still follow Child Care and Development Program (CCDF) requirements. This includes a comprehensive background check, initial and annual training, and an annual onsite health & safety validation visit. These providers include Out-of-School Time (OST) providers such as Boys & Girls Clubs, Out-of-School Recreation (OSR) providers including City and County Parks & Recreation programs, and Family, Friend & Neighbor Providers (FFN).
